Clay Diversions

Well, since work is closed until after the New Year, I've had some free time on my hands.  So I picked up an assortment pack of poly clay and started having fun.  After working in glass for a long time, it's different being able to actually touch your creations while they are being made.

This is the first snail I made.  White and gray (and a touch too much flash :) ) About an inch and a quarter tall.

Then he invited some friends over.  Can't have just one snail.

Then some more came.  They are made from poly clay, dried in a toaster oven, then given a layer of Modge-Podge as sealant.

I'm keeping these two.  The Goddess bead was part of the Goddess Exchange over on Lampwork etc.

Even More Wreaths

Well, I think I finally worked wreath making out of my system. ha! :)

This one is for a co-worker.  Red fabric covering foam base.  Red and gold garland.Shiny red and gold glass ornaments.  Matte gold berries.  Gold plaster cherub ornaments.  About 8" wide and 2" tall.

This was a gift to a friend.  Though he was the MC for the Wreath Auction (and has been for the past couple of years), he doesn't have a wreath of his own. He put in a couple of bids on "Sparkle", but was out priced.  So I made him "Stardust".  About 16" foam core.  Silver garland. Two sizes of sliver glitter balls.  Two sizes of silver glass ornaments.  And the spangles were from a garland that I took apart.  And a wee bit of silver glittered ribbon.

Enjoy!

Work Sale

Had a nice, but short, sale at work today.  For the first time, it was located in the Faculty Club - swanky.  Spacing was a bit tight, but everyone was in good spirits and I had very nice neighbors.  I've been located near their table for the past few years.  So many cute things!!

Again, display trees and the purple owl, got a lot of attention.  Perhaps I should take a hint and make those for sale as well.

While it was an early morning (waking up at 4:30am isn't my favorate thing), it was a good sale, and a nice change from work - for a few hours at least.

The amigurumi Santas were made by my mom.  Knitting or crochet isn't in my skill-set.

Right now, I don't have any other sales on my schedule.  I'm planning having my Etsy hop set-up during the holiday break.  whoo!  Stay tuned for information on that.

Wreaths - Wrap Up

The MA4 wreath auction was a blast!   If I'm reading my scribbles right: "Festive" sold for $50. To the same person who bought "Santa Baby" last year.  She likes my wreaths.  awww...shucks.

"Silent Night" sold for $200. And caused the wreath boys to have an argument backstage over who was going to present it.  Who knew that faux fur would cause such a tiff?  Maybe for next year, I'll make more faux fur ones. teehee.

"Sparkle, Neely, Sparkle" sold for $225. This also got a lot of attention at the pre-sale milling around.  Under the stage lights it was nearly blinding.  Even the auctioneer was bidding on this one. He was also the one to rename "Sparkle" to "Sparkle, Neely, Sparkle."

"Baubles" sold for $200. "Furry Golden Balls" sold for $75. Not sure who won those.

Finally, "Cosmo" sold for $200. I saw somebody wearing this as a hat on the way out....m'kay, if that's what you want to do with it.

I still have four wreaths in progress on my table at home.  Two small, one medium (purple and gold) and a large frame that has red and gold.  Pondering finishing them for the Artisan sale next week at work.

Anyhow - the wreaths I liked went for well over $500.  Yikes! Must save my pennies for next year.

Solstice Festival

Hey everybody!

Had a great time at the LBWS Solstice Festival yesterday. Had a perfect spot too. Right along two walkways and had a line of trees as a backdrop. Yeah it rained a bit here and there. The canopy didn't leak and the sun did beak though quite a bit. I had plenty of space for visitors :) Will put the Summer festival on my to-do list for next year.

I'm off to have celebratory pancakes and unpack the car. Work is having an artisan craft sale in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll get the Etsy store set-up and running before then.

Also, the Martini's Above Fourth's Annual Queen Eddie Conlon Charity Wreath Auction is Monday night. It's a great night.
